Decompression Diving

Have you ever wanted to extend your dive beyond no-decompression limits? If so, SSI Decompression Diving Specialty is perfect for you! This specialty course teaches you how to understand and use the features of your dive computer, allowing you to make the most out of your diving experience.

What is the Decompression Diving Certification?

This course gives you the skills to dive beyond what is normally allowed without decompression limits cutting in. You’ll be able to plan and execute dives up to 40m/130 feet depth with a recreational scuba system and single decompression stage cylinder. No more worrying about staying within no-decompression limits! During this training session, you’ll be able to develop your dive computer skills and understand how to use its features, that includes switching gases, gas integration, time-to-reserve and time-to-surface. Becoming familiar with computer-assisted dive planning tools will soon become a breeze. With them, you can do dives that require minimal decompression time without needing to dedicate long hours of planning beforehand.

When you complete this course, you will receive the SSI Decompression Diving Specialty certification. This allows you to take part in exciting deep dives without being restricted by no-decompression limits. Your options for diving exploration and adventure now become bigger than ever! A certified SSI Decompression Diver can dive anywhere in the world to 40 metres/130 feet, using up to 40% Nitrox and have a maximum decompression time of 15 minutes (non-accelerated).

Course Structure

The course includes a morning theory session in our classroom, followed by the first part of your in-water training in our private swimming pool. You will learn how to S.W.I.T.C.H correctly (switching from your main regulator to your stage regulator), remove and replace your stage cylinder, share gas while ascending on your stage regulator and SMB deployment. In the afternoon, we will be conducting a dive planning session followed by a single shore dive.

The second day will again include a dive planning  session in the morning and two dives in the afternoon from our boat. We will be keeping our boat dives limited to a maximum depth of 40m/130 feet. We will however dive beyond the no-decompression limits of our computers and plan up to 15 minutes of decompression stops.
