Open Water SCUBA Certification – Referral

If you want to knock out all of the classroom and pool portion prior to arriving in Cozumel, the SCUBA Referral option is something to consider. This does save precious vacation time – essentially 1 day worth – and for many people you’d rather be diving or doing other fun stuff instead of sitting in a classroom on your vacation. With that portion complete before you arrive you can focus on the ocean diving portion and have more time for relaxation. Our staff is certified to teach both PADI and SSI accredited certifications, so no matter which agency you started your classes with, we can finish it for you.

Typical SCUBA Referral Open Water Certification Course Schedule

Normally you will arrive to Cozumel having completed your classroom portion and your pool skills with your local dive center. This provides us with the opportunity to head right to the ocean. It is your option to do a knowledge and skills review on the first morning, but it will not be required if your training was completed within the last couple months with a recognized dive agency.

Morning 1 ~ 8:30am – 12pm Brief review of knowledge and water skills (if desired)
Lunch 12 pm -2 pm
Afternoon 2pm – 6pm in the ocean for dives 1 & 2
Afternoon 2 ~ 1:30pm – 6pm in the ocean dives 3 & 4

The class will then head to the ocean for your four (4) open water dives. Usually we start with our first two (2) dives as shore dives and complete dives 3 & 4 from the boat. The combination of shore dives and boat dives provides you with an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge and experience for multiple types of SCUBA diving. On each of the four (4) dives you will demonstrate proficiency in various skills which you learned in the pool. After the fourth completed dive you will have earned your SCUBA certification and be a new diver!
