El Cozumeleno Beach Resort All Inclusive Dive Package

El Cozumeleno Beach Resort (or “El Coz” as the locals call it) is a mainstay of Cozumel. Despite being one of the older properties of Cozumel, the owners have done a nice job keeping it modern and up to date. It is a massive property located about as far north in Cozumel as one can get. Only Hotel Melia is further north. Being this far north means it is convenient for only one thing – golf. Directly across the street is the Cozumel Country Club, which is open to the public.

If you are not for playing a few rounds of golf and making it convenient for yourself, you may consider staying somewhere further south. As a scuba diver, this makes for a long travel to the southern dive sites. So how far north is it? Not really that far actually. By taxi, about 10 minutes from downtown San Miguel. You will probably want a rental car if you plan to leave the resort, however. Getting a taxi that far north can be troublesome at certain times of the day.

But What About the Beach?

A wonderful beach area  at El Cozumeleno will be a delight for any beach-goer, hence the official name of El Cozumeleno Beach Resort. But the flip side of this means the snorkeling is rather boring – mostly sand and sea grass. If you are here to scuba and golf, that doesn’t matter though, right? With five (yes, 5!) outdoor pools plus an indoor pool which features a swim-up bar – one of five bars on the property. Two different restaurants are ready to serve you a variety of dishes. Oh did I mention the six (yes, 6!) Jacuzzis scattered about the property?

Perhaps my favorite part is every room second level and above has a balcony with an ocean view. Personally I think an ocean view from your room is important when visiting Cozumel.

Resort fee of $7 USD per night payable at check-in.

El Cozumeleno awaits for your dive getaway

The northern location of El Cozumeleno allows you to escape the cruise ship crowds of Cozumel and concentrate on relaxation. Some scuba today, golf tomorrow, spa treatments in the afternoons.Multiple pools, many bars, a fantastic beach, and of course that addictive Cozumel sunset over the open ocean each night – is it starting to sound like your kind of vacation, yet?

Additional property amenities include an air-conditioned fitness center, a Kid’s Club activity center, and a game room with ping pong, pool  etc. All common areas offer free WiFi. Finally, a regulation tennis court plus a cool little miniature gold course (I think Cozumel’s only?).

El Cozumeleno Beach Resort Accommodations

With many room levels to choose from, El Cozumeleno has got you covered. Starting with the Garden View room, these are all located on the ground floor. You don’t quite get the ocean view, so I might suggest looking to upgrade at least one level.

To see the water, you’ll need to reserve the Ocean View room. I’ll give El Coz one thing, thus far they are keeping the naming direct and to the point. If you love getting up high above all else and having that magnificent surrounding view, you’ll want the Top Premium Sky Ocean View (okay maybe they got a little out of hand there?). This room is located on the 9th floor of the hotel. I’m told you can see a dog walking the beach in Playa del Carmen on a clear day! All of these rooms are a maximum of 4 adults or 2 adults with 2 children.

Giving yourself a bit more space to spread out with a touch more luxury along with it is the Deluxe room. Max of four adults, children not allowed. But why stop there? The Panoramic Deluxe has a killer wrap around balcony giving you the ultimate view of Cozumel. Invite me for the sunsets, please! Again, no children allowed.

Food & Drink at El Cozumeleno Beach Resort

Lets get this out of the way first – yes, El Cozumeleno really has five bars to just two restaurants. We can see where the priorities are, right?! Okay in all fairness a number of the bars also serve food, like Bananas Bar. This is a great quite spot for breakfast. The Snack Bar also serves burgers, hot dogs, and similar items through out the day. So can you call that four restaurants? Maybe its just me, but I like the sound of five bars better! Don’t forget about the swim-up pool bar, plus the lobby bar. The strategicaly placed around the property is also Oasis machines for your frozen drinks. Clutch!

Restaurnat wise, the El Cozumeleno offers up your choice of the Veranada or the Cocal. At the Veranda reservations are required, as is a dress code, to enjoy their gourmet meals. The Cocal is more relaxed, and outdoors, where buffet meals are available breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
