I must admit, eagle rays are probably my favorite animal to see while scuba diving. Lucky for me, December in Cozumel marks the beginning of eagle ray season. The eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari) gathers in large numbers on the northern side of Cozumel and stays in the nearby Cozumel waters into February as they complete their mating season. As the season is just beginning we are starting to see them appear on our southern reefs, as well. I captured this video today –

Eagle rays in the North

Since Salty Endeavors has our boat moored in the northern harbor of Cozumel we plan to do frequent northside diving in pursuance of the schools of eagle rays. Stay tuned for additional eagle ray videos and photos or better yet book your northside dive with us today and see these magnificent animals for yourself.
