Dive One

Site: Palancar Gardens
Max Depth: 80 feet
Dive Time: 43 minutes
Key Animals: Spotted Eagle Ray, Barracuda, Hawksbill Turtle
Visibility: 100+ feet
Notes:  Conditions were perfect this morning we made it to Palancar Gardens. We all went down to the wall where we saw a spotted eagle ray at depth. Dana had her video camera, Louise pointed to the barracudas, a few of them then we went through the passages and a turtle showed up, Bambi was dive buddy with Jenny and we all start ascending together. On top of the reef there are so many small colorful fish, nice to do the safety stop at 15 ft along the shallower part of the reef.

Dive Two

Site: Santa Rosa Wall
Max Depth: 60 feet
Dive Time: 50 minutes
Key Animals: Splendid Toadfish, Hawksbill Turtle, Channel Clinging Crab
Visibility: 100+ feet
Notes:  Liza asked to do Santa Rosa Wall as second dive, Garret had the comment that this was a very cool spot, so there we go. The visibility was perfect. We saw the deep blue and suddenly a turtle emerge from depth, after a couple of pinnacles under a sponge I found the couple of toadfish that I have seen from almost a year. We spent most of the dive at the wall and when we decided to head to the shallow barrier parallel to it we found the small sea turtle. Perfect dive!

Chelidonura sp., but more commonly know by the name of Head Shield Slug – of which there are many slugs that go by the same generic name. This is the most common locally to Cozumel.
