Captain: Domingo
Divemaster / Instructor: Ray
Weather: Perfect day for diving!
Water Temperature: 80 degrees
Dive One
Site: Cantrell
Max Depth: 100 feet
Dive Time: 50 minutes
Key Animals: Snapper, Spanish Lobster
Visibility: 100+ feet
Notes: The afternoon drift was gentle, sunny and clear water – perfect conditions. Joe is descending easy, keeping an eye on the snappers, they look great in that big school. Then Mike spotted a lion fish, Frazier pointed a southern sting ray, such a big one, super cool, time to ascend. In deeper dives the time underwater is 50 minutes, feels short.
Dive Two
Site: Abrigo Wall
Max Depth: 60 feet
Dive Time: 60 minutes
Key Animals: Squids, Spotted Moray
Visibility: 100+ feet
Notes: When we stay up north it is a good choice to do the shallow reef in front of the marina. Frazier saw a couple of squids, seems to be his favorite creature. There were two or three moray eels, sharp tail and spotted. They like to hide under the coral. The crabs in the opposite, under the sponges and inside them. We saw a few on this dive, it was actually a very nice one.
Sepioteuthis sepioidea, but more commonly know by the name of Caribbean Reef Squid. Love these guys when they are in small squadrons!
